After Victoria Falls, your safari itinerary can be designed to proceed into Zambia’s beautiful Mosi-oa-Tunya, Kafue, South Luangwa or Northern Luangwa National Parks, or continue to Hwange as described in Zimbabwe

Zambia in Brief:

Land locked Zambia’s southern boundary is the Zambezi river, with Zimbabwe on the opposite bank. It is bordered by Angola to the west and Malawi and Mozambique to the east. It shares a long frontier with the DRC (Democratic Republic of Congo) in the north, and Tanzania can be accessed via the great lakes in the far north.

Capital: Lusaka.

Currency: Kwatcha.

Population: 28 million.

Tribes: More than 27 tribes reside in Zambia and each tribe’s language is taught in most Zambian schools and broadcasted on Zambia national radio and television. Main languages spoken are Bemba, Lozi, Chichewa, Tonga and English. English is the language of business.

Economy: Fast emerging after 27 years of severe economical downturn.

Zambia is politically stable.

History: Between 1950s to 1963, Zambia was known as Northern Rhodesia, part of the Federation of Rhodesia & Nyasaland (which became Malawi). It was a British protectorate and its ties with Southern Rhodesia (Zimbabwe) and the Federation states were dissolved in 1963.

Zambia got its independence from Britain 24th October 1964 with Kenneth Kaunda elected the first president of the Republic of Zambia.
